I have been a big fan of Bootstrap Farmer trays and inserts for a few years. I bought these inserts to have more flexibility in moving seedlings around on my growing rack. I didn't think it would make such a big difference in root development, but the results are amazing. I started seeds using these inserts and the standard 50-cell tray on the same day. The plants in these trays have at least 3 times the root development. I just ordered more and they will now be my standard seed starting tray.

I live in a zone 0/1 area with a short season of about 65 days. I have to start a lot of my plants indoors. I pot up a lot of what I start and these plug inserts make that much easier with the big bottom hole. The plugs pop right out and because they are a just a 6 cell insert I don't have to worry about a large plug tray bending and breaking while I try to pop out plugs. The plastic is sturdy and I can move the inserts around. So if some inserts do not need bottom heat anymore, for example, I can move them to another tray. I am slowly converting all my seed starting to inserts and plant pots from Bootstrap Farmer.
