Tad from KIS Organics has been working with Black Swallow Organics to develop this new soil mix that we wanted to add to our line up. The new KIS mix differs from Black Swallow soil mix in that it was designed to have a greater overall nutritional content. Consequently, this is a great mix for someone who is new to growing in a living soil, who is not yet confident in using the teas, foliars sprays, and microbial innoculants, or even growers who just desire simplicity. With Tad’s guidance, Black Swallow has worked up a mix that will allow any gardener to achieve a successful harvest without the addition of too many other inputs.
This powerhouse of a mix is a blend of sphagnum peat, perlite, fish compost, leaf compost, worm castings, biochar, blood meal, kelp meal, crab meal, feather meal, Dead Soldier fly frass, fish bone meal, gypsum, soft rock phosphate, alfalfa meal, oyster shell flour, Wollastonite rock dust, Volcanophos rock dust, and Huplaso basalt.
This product is sold by the cubic foot, in a bag. It does not come as a 'baled' product like peat moss. This is because a true, living soil has a significant compost content in order to contribute the diverse biology that, by definition, it contains. Consequently, the KIS mix cannot be compressed, but is bagged loose- as opposed to a heavily peated product which does not contain compost of any measurable amount. Compressing and baling a compost mix quickly leads to anaerobic conditions.

Keeping It Simple
Cultivars I've grown love this stuff, can say nutrient rich that gallon per month can be done before nutrients need to be added in. Simple water in right pot size has yielded tasty fruit with a really healthy root structure.
Best soil ever
I’ve grown three rounds in this soil. The first round I fed too many nutrients, but it was the best crop ever. Second grow was dialing things in and it was the best crop. This last round has been absolutely perfect, I didn’t know it could get better. I hardly feed with organics and it is looking like Maximum Yield, cover porn. I’m baked on some rn. Try it in 5 gal bags and water a little daily
Keeps it simple
Awesome soil. Doesn't burn Autoflowering cultivars, simple ph water with some of their bloom feed when flowering and magic happens. Strawberries thrive in this medium.
Great looking soil
Amazing service and super fast shipping with Indoor Farmer. In association with Tad Hussy at KIS. I’m sure Black Swallow has put together a great soil from local inputs, and with the scientific reports to prove it. Let real science guide your grow not stoner science
Have just started using it on couple passed grows and I love the soil works and can be reused and amended! Much love and positivity!
